“Look To This Day”

Hey guys,

Hope everyone is doing well and having a great day. I felt like I needed a little extra inspiration today, and I stumbled upon this lovely poem.  Its by Kalidasa, an Indian poet from the 5th century A.D. and it’s called “Look To This Day.”  I really enjoy this poem, it gives me a better perspective on life and to really cherish each moment.

Look to this day:
For it is life, the very life of life.
In its brief course
Lie all the verities and realities of your existence.
The bliss of growth,
The glory of action,
The splendour of achievement
Are but experiences of time.

For yesterday is but a dream
And tomorrow is only a vision;
And today well-lived, makes
Yesterday a dream of happiness
And every tomorrow a vision of hope.
Look well therefore to this day;
Such is the salutation to the ever-new dawn!

  1. Whoa! I can’t believe this poem is from the 5th Century! If you hadn’t mentioned it, I would have thought it was written within the past 30 years or so. Thanks for sharing it – and for sharing that wonderful, carefree photo. 🙂
